The Noise...Disconnecting from Social Media

I will be the first to admit that there are days I catch myself endlessly scrolling through social media. What exactly am I looking for? Something to fill the time, something to make me laugh, a distraction...it's become a habit that's slowly creeped up on me. I'll have a pause in life and my subconscious need to be stimulated will kick in. I'll grab my phone if it's nearby and start scrolling mindlessly. By the end of the day I feel anxious and restless and think "Oh God, I spent too much time disconnected today!".

It's a reminder that I need to refocus. That I've too easily allowed social media to be my main habit, when I need to make meditating and grounding my priority. My instinctual go-to.

When I allow all the noise and energy of other people into my life and don't allow my own energy space to speak, my world becomes discombobulated and unaligned. If you don't know how to ground and meditate, that feeling can become overwhelming and lead you into a spiral of draining emotions.

So I ask you...how much of your day is noise from other people and how much of your day is set aside for your own voice to come through?
